THE ROLE OF IN-FLIGHT MAGAZINES IN PUBLIC RELATIONS: THE CASE OF TURKISH AIRLINE COMPANIES

This study aims to investigate the use of in-flight magazines with the purpose of public relations (PR) in aviation sector which is an ignored area of research in tourism and travel literature. With this purpose, six image- and six loyalty-generating PR themes were firstly derived from a literature review. Following, in the case of four Turkish airline companies, in-flight magazines are content analyzed, which are published in 2017. The results showed that the most commonly used image-generating PR sub-theme was the ‘news about the company’, in general.
