Phenomenon of Multilingual Society among Tourist Actors: A Case Study at Kuta Beach of Bali

Abstract

This study probes a phenomenon from tourism actors because their profession demands the ability to communicate with various types of foreign languages. This case study at Kuta beach in Bali applied observation. The data were collected by recording, listening to the recording, and in-depth interviews. The results showed that the increased number of visits from various countries also increased the ability of tourism actors in foreign languages. Language skills obtained autonomously results in foreign language skills, which diverts from proper language use. The impact, multilingual phenomenon are not in accordance with grammar and ignore politeness aspects by the tourist actors.
